Laura Matsen, MD
Dr. Laura Matsen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon based in Seattle, Washington, with specialized expertise in hip and knee arthritic disorders. She is deeply committed to providing highly personalized care to every patient, treating them with the same attention and compassion she would want for her own family. Dr. Matsen has completed advanced fellowship training in total hip and knee replacement, revision surgeries, and fracture care, staying at the forefront of the latest treatment options and surgical techniques. Her goal is to help her patients return to the activities they enjoy, be it hiking, golfing, cycling, skiing, playing pickleball & tennis, or just walking without pain.
When she’s not in the operating room, Dr. Matsen is likely with her family or exploring the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. A passionate outdoorswoman, she has climbed Mount Rainier 12 times, including six ski descents and six single-day summit climbs. She is also known for pursuing fastest-known-time (FKT) efforts on challenging mountain routes, earning recognition as a sponsored mountain athlete. Whether running, cycling, mountain climbing, or backcountry skiing, Dr. Matsen brings the same preparation, perseverance, and attention to detail to caring for her patients as she does to her adventures in the mountains.
Her unique blend of medical expertise, compassion and athleticism allows her to approach each patient with an in depth understanding of their body’s capabilities and limitations, giving them the best opportunity to “get back in the game”.
